Today and yesterday are the first days where we have seen Emma’s playful side since she came to us about 4 months ago.
Until now, she’s been just a gentle, quiet greyhound (just as advertised), maybe a little shy, especially at night and especially with men, tall men, that is. We assume that she’s been abused in the past.
But yesterday morning, she had finally grasped that it’s OK to grab a toy from the toybox, drag it into the hall or throughout the house and if desired, just pull the stuffing out of it to her little hearts content. While the little red lobster didn’t like to have its stuffing torn out exactly, we, however, were utterly delighted in her ability to just have fun.
This morning, she actually grabbed a toy from Latte and ran off with it with him in tow. They actually started chasing each other around in a playful way going after the same sqeaky toy. Imagine! Our little timid, docile Emma, play-barking at Latte for a toy. What progress!
And now, they’re both relaxing on their pillows and just looking at me to see if we’re heading off to do something soon. In about 10 minutes, they’ll probably both be chasing bunnies int their sleep.
Life is greyt!
